Citrix and Terminal Server Support
First of all you have to know that the Windows Terminalserver with or without Citrix is not able to access native highspeed USB devices.
We offer different solutions for Citrix and terminal server environments, so that you will always be able to use our pads.
1) Internal USB-to-Serial Converter
2) Virtual COM-port driver (VCOM)
3) signotec Citrix Virtual Channel
4) Remote Desktop Protocol
signotec Pads with an internal USB to Serial Converter:
signotec Sigma, signotec Omega, signotec Gamma and signotec Delta (optional!) and Alpha (always) LCD Signature Pads come with an internal USB2Serial converter. These units have a "FT" in the product number, please refer to the data sheets for more information. The driver can be downloaded from the link below.
With a virtual COM-port you end up with what appears to be a native USB-connected signature pad (with all power pulled directly from the USB port), but works in the same manner as a serial pad, in that it converts the USB port, which it is plugged into a virtual COM-port. From there, the virtual COM-port can be mapped to the server.
These pads can be plugged into a terminal, fat-client or thin-client machine, and the COM-port on the client mapped via back to a COM-port on the server. Ultimately, through this mapping, a signotec pad physically connected to the client is virtually plugged directly into the server's com port.
Map the serial port on the client to the serial port on the server. Mapping should be done using the Citrix NetUse command:

Where com3 is the number of the (virtual) COM-port on the server (ports 1 through 9 are available for mapping) and com1 is the number of the client COM-port you want to map. Press ENTER. Be sure, that your virtual com port on the client is one in this example. In general it is a port behind 2, because one and two are physical com ports on the client.
To confirm the operation, type:
net use (at the prompt.)
The list that appears contains mapped drives, LPT ports, and mapped COM-ports. To use this COM-port in a session on a Citrix server, install the device to the mapped name. For example, if you map COM1 on the client to COM5 on the server, install the COM port
device on COM5 during the session on the server. Use this mapped COM-port as you would a COM-port on the client computer.
Virtual COM-Port Driver
For our signature pads WITHOUT an internal USB-to-Serial converter, we also got our vCOM driver.
The virtual COM-Port driver allows you to use a native HID-USB signature pad as a COM device, so that you're able to do a COM-port mapping as described above.

signotec Citrix Virtual Channel
In Citrix environment there’s an alternative connection method for signotec signature pads. The “Virtual Channel” Technology allows you to use the signature pad without a COM-Port-Mapping. This procedure does not need a serial device, it supports HID-USB and WinUSB pads as well.
This technology speeds up the connection a lot, so that the response time lowers noticeable. Especially the signature process on the Alpha Pad accelerates.
The Virtual Channel driver is set up on the ICA Client. After configuration of the driver, the pads communicate via the virtual channel, which was set up. As soon as the CITRIX sessions starts, the virtual channel initializes. Every data between the pad and the software will be compressed, send via the virtual channel, getting decompressed and will be processed. This technology lowers network traffic and reduces latency by a multiple.
For this solution you need our charged Virtual Channel driver.
Remote Desktop Protocol
It is possible to access the signotec pads with RDP (Remote Desktop Connection) as well.
Therefore you have to configure RDP to use your local COM ports in your remote session.
RDP -> Options -> Local Resources -> More
Activate 'Ports' as shown in screenshot below.
