Discontinuation of signotec Omega

The signotec Omega has been one of the world’s best-selling signature pads for several decades. Today, we must announce that we are discontinuing it: a key component is no longer available, and there is no equivalent replacement. This means that further production is no longer possible. You can read here what this means for your devices, your orders and your support – along with our recommendation for the successor model.

First things first: nothing is changing with your Omega Pads. There will be no functional restrictions, no shutdowns and no need for a last-minute migration. You can continue to use your devices as before.

As a successor model, we recommend the signotec Gamma. It offers the same range of applications, more robust sensor technology with a toughened glass screen – and takes things a step further in every respect.

Significantly longer service life. The ERT sensor, with its surface made of specially hardened glass, is designed to handle around 30 million signatures, compared with around 1 million for the Omega. This is the most significant difference in terms of your total cost of ownership. In terms of price, the Gamma is in the same segment as the Omega.

A more brilliant display. 800 × 480 pixels in full colour display text, logos, graphics and buttons with razor-sharp clarity. When the device is in standby mode, you can use the display as an advertising and information space.

Uncompromised security. RSA signature generation on the pad, RSA/AES-encrypted transmission, individual certificates and more: the tried-and-tested security architecture remains fully intact.

Familiar software ecosystem. signoSign/2, the signoPAD API, signoSign/Universal and all other tools support the Gamma.

Made in Germany. Development and production from a single source, winner of the German Design Award.

The Gamma has a higher-resolution display: 800 × 480 pixels compared with 640 × 480 pixels on the Omega. This also changes the aspect ratio. If your application builds display content itself, a layout adjustment is necessary – you should convert the coordinates of buttons and signature fields, background images and slideshow graphics, as well as existing scroll and layout logic, to the new resolution.

The programming interfaces themselves remain unchanged: this is a layout adjustment, not a re-integration. In most cases, only a few changes to the code are required. We recommend planning this adjustment well in advance and testing it on the device.

Will my existing Omega continue to work?
Yes. There are no functional restrictions and no shutdown. Your devices will continue to operate as normal.

Until when can I still order the Omega?
Up to and including 31 October 2026, or whilst stocks last. Please discuss any planned requirements with your contact person in good time.

How long will I receive support and firmware updates?
Until at least 31 October 2029. We will offer repairs and spare parts during the same period, subject to availability.

Do I need to adapt my software?
The programming interfaces remain unchanged. Adaptation will only be necessary if your application builds display content itself – in which case the layout will need to be converted to the new resolution.
