SignoGDT seamlessly integrates signotec software with the practice management system

Seamless integration for more efficient and legally compliant practice workflows

Dr Fabian Treusch has been running his own GP practice since 2009 and has set himself the goal of tackling the increasing bureaucratic demands of day-to-day practice with innovative solutions. By developing his own software tools to optimise documentation within the practice management system, he aims to free up more consultation time for his patients.

With the introduction of the “SignoGDT” interface, Dr Treusch has enabled a solution for the seamless integration of the tried-and-tested signoSign/2 software with the modern signature pads from signotec.

SignoGDT is based on the standard GDT interface, which is available in all practice management systems (PVS) approved by the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians. This interface is also used, amongst other things, to connect diagnostic devices to the practice management system. The GDT interface thus ensures a smooth connection to the practice management system and enables efficient documentation in the patient’s electronic medical record.

The idea to develop SignoGDT arose from the need to further optimise workflow in the practice. Particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, when the number of vaccination documents requiring signatures rose sharply, the direct integration of the e-signature provided significant relief. Printing, signing and then scanning the forms again was simply too time-consuming and disrupted daily practice operations. Dr Treusch took this as an opportunity to look into signature pads. Based on numerous factors, such as the excellent build quality and the ‘Made in Germany’ label, Dr Treusch opted for the signotec solution. Specifically, he chose the signoSign/2 software and the Delta signature pad, which allows the document to be scrolled through conveniently and thus read on the device beforehand.

The only thing missing for an optimal daily workflow was the ability to open signoSign/2 directly from the practice management system (PVS) and automatically transfer the personal data for the form header. The SignoGDT interface was created for this purpose. The programme converts a GDT file generated by the PVS, containing the relevant master data, into an SMB file, uses this to launch signoSign/2, and transfers not only the form but also the document type with predefined settings for processing the form. The signed document is then transferred back to the PVS via GDT. The previously time-consuming patient signing processes now run quickly and conveniently:

“Our patients frequently praise this modern and environmentally friendly approach, reports Dr Treusch.

As a pioneer in the digitisation of signatures and work processes, the signotec team is delighted to complement and optimise further external solutions in this area. The SignoGDT interface developed by Dr Treusch is a successful example of how digitalisation can optimally simplify and shorten workflows.

About Dr Fabian Treusch:

Dr Fabian Treusch has been a practising specialist in internal medicine in Pforzheim since 2009.
For several years, he has been continuously striving to optimise documentation in the practice management system (PVS) using small, self-written software tools, in order to free up more consultation time for his patients. His first programme was designed to document the geriatric baseline assessment. Further tools followed under the name GDT-Tools (InrGDT, OptiGDT, and DosisGDT). SignoGDT is the latest tool he has developed, which utilises signoSign/2 and the signature pads from signotec as support.
