Digital solutions for medical practices: SignoMED and signotec in use

TOP-Computer, a long-standing distribution partner of signotec, has integrated a GDT interface into its SignoMED software, which was developed specifically for use in medical practices. Mr Holland, the owner of TOP-Computer, began development in early 2024, inspired by feedback from a doctor who felt there was a lack of digital solutions for his practice. Within just six months, an initial test version had been successfully implemented, resulting in a steady stream of enquiries from various medical practices.

SignoMED provides a seamless connection between practice management systems, signotec signature pads and the requirements of modern medical practices. SignoMED utilises signotec’s powerful signoPAD-API and signoAPI. This enables the software to facilitate efficient, paperless and legally compliant processes – a decisive advantage in terms of the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Simple workflow, impressive results

SignoMED’s digital signature solution impresses with a simple and efficient workflow. Here is how the process works step by step:

• Document selection: The practice team opens the SignoMED programme and selects the document to be signed. This could be, for example, a consent form or a standard form.
• Transfer to the signature pad: The selected document is transferred digitally to the signature pad. This is where the Delta Pad, with its large 10.1-inch display, comes into play. The display shows the document in its original size, which is particularly advantageous for A4 documents in portrait format.
• Review by the patient: The patient can read and review the document on the signature pad. This full-screen display ensures transparency and security during the signing process.
• Signing: The patient signs the document directly on the signature pad. Thanks to the device’s 2048 pressure levels, the signature is captured with the highest precision.
• Encryption and signature: After signing, the biometric data and the associated certificates from the signature pad are embedded into the PDF document. The data is encrypted and the document is signed to ensure the authenticity and integrity of the signature.
• Return to the practice management system: The signed document is automatically returned to the practice’s computer. From there, it is transferred to the document archive of the practice software.
• Legally compliant archiving: The document is stored securely and in compliance with the GDPR in the practice archive. This ensures legally sound and long-term documentation.

The signotec Delta Pad was specifically selected for integration with the interface, as it is designed particularly for applications where documents must be displayed in full. It displays A4 documents in portrait format at their original width, offering ideal handling – particularly when processing patient consent forms.
